THIS IS THE OFFICIAL SITE OF CASTON PARISH COUNCIL Caston is a small East Anglian agricultural village situated some 18 miles south-west of Norwich, the capital city of Norfolk. While there is some beef cattle here the main industry is arable farming - currently sugar beet, wheat and barley but this changes as the crop prices vary. To the immediate north, some 4 miles away is Watton while Attleborough lies eight miles to the east with Thetford some 13 miles to the south. Click here for a map with a pin-point location. Use the + and - keys to zoom in and out. Caston consists of approximately 180 dwellings with a population of around 450 (Census 2001). There are no retail businesses within the village. The latest round of post office closures saw the closure in 2008 of what was the part-time post office that operated from the village hall just two mornings each week. The parish council consists of the Chairman and six councillors. They meet at the village hall, on the 1st Monday of every month with the exception of August. Ample time is given for public participation at the end of each meeting and the public are encouraged to attend. Also provided on this web site is the Contact Us page where parishioners are encouraged to write in on any matters they wish to bring to the attention of the parish council. Such correspondence addressed to the Chairman will be read out and addressed at the next available meeting.
